Bishop Thompson to ordain two to the priesthood and one to the diaconate
The ordination scheduled for Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10 am will be an historic moment for the Diocese of Evansville. Not only will two priests and one deacon be ordained at the same liturgy, but it will be the most culturally diverse group of men ever ordained for the Diocese of Evansville. Deacon Tyler Tenbarge is from Haubstadt and is the only native of the diocese in this ordination group. Deacon Ambrose Wanyonyi comes to us from Kenya and Homero Rodriguez hails from Mexico. These men bring a wide variety of gifts to the diocese and we are grateful for their generosity and fidelity to God's call. Join us for this historic moment and celebrate with these men and with the Church that welcomes them!
Monastic Experience Weekend
May 26 - 29, 2016.
We invite young women, between the ages of 18 and 45, who are discerning a religious vocation, particularly to the contemplative way of life.
There is no cost except for transportation expenses to our monastery and a weekend out of the young ladies’ busy lives.
Our Monastic Experience Weekend is an opportunity for young women to experience a weekend of life with us within our monastery. Along with joining the community in praying the Divine Office, Mass, meals, recreation, and a tour of our monastery and grounds, we will give talks on the Liturgy of the Hours, the Carmelite Charism, Discernment, and Prayer in Carmel. We are a vibrant community of fourteen nuns. Our two youngest members are “first fruits” of previous Monastic Experience Weekends and we are blessed to have them among us.
Along with providing young women with the opportunity to discern their vocation here at our monastery, our additional intention in having this discernment Weekend each year is to further promote religious vocations for our Church at large, something we believe to be an important work.
