Substitute Teacher Application Instructions
Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching in the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Evansville.
We ask that all those intereseted in substitute teaching complete the application packet found to the right. The completed application packet materials must be submitted to email@example.com. The Catholic Schools Office maintains a master file of substitute teachers. As substitute teacher files are completed, applicant names will be added to the Approved Substitute Teacher List, which the Principals have access to. Substitute teachers are called on an as-needed basis by the individual schools. Pay varies at each location, and I-9 and W-4 forms will need to be completed at each employing school.
In order to be considered for substitute teaching, an applicant will need a valid Indiana Substitute Teacher's Permit, or a valid Indiana Teacher's License. For those individuals who do not already have a Permit, all application materials must be submitted to the Catholic Schools Office before your Substitute Teacher's Permit will be verified by our office for issue by the Indiana Department of Education. Applicants who receive an Indiana Substitute Teacher's Permit through this office will receive the original certificate for their own file. The Catholic Schools Office will keep a copy of the permit in the applicant's file. Those applying for a substitute teacher's permit will need to have 60 college hours of credit, as verified by college transcript.
Substitute Teacher files will be kept on file for one year. Prior to the beginning of each school year, you will receive correspondence asking if you wish to remain on the substitute teacher list for the upcoming school year. Please let us know if you wish to have your name removed from the list, your availability changes, or if you accept another position in the Diocese of Evansville or other school system. We also kindly ask that you keep us informed of any address, telephone, or email changes.
Again, thank you for your interest in working in the Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Evansville. We are proud of our schools and appreciate your time and effort in completing these forms.
