HOUSE OF DISCERNMENT
What is the House?
The Father Deydier House of Discernment was established in the summer of 2018 at Sacred Heart Church in Evansville. The House provides a place for young men, ages 18-30, to discern God’s call in their lives. Fr. Tyler Tenbarge serves as the House’s first Chaplain and Director, and Fr. Tyler coordinates opportunities for prayer, discernment, and formation for the residents, like:
Usually, a young man will spend the academic year in the House (August to May) but the House also has flexibility. While you work or go to school, you can also find out with the Lord is saying to you about your call, and that is the greatest adventure you can imagine.
Young men, ages 18-30, who are interested in applying can contact the House Director, Fr. Tyler Tenbarge or the Diocesan Vocations Office for more information.
- Monthly faith formation gatherings for teenage guys – Savio Night
- Occasional sports for high school, college or young adult men
- Book studies on topics like liturgy or discernment
- Short pilgrimages to Saint Meinrad, the tomb of Servant of God Bishop Simon Bruté, etc.
- House Mass, Adoration, and Liturgy of the Hours
- Weekly Monday night Holy Hour (6:30pm) & Mass (7:30pm) for Vocations at Sacred Heart Church (all are welcome to attend)
