MARRIAGE PREPARATION

Picture
Marriage Preparation begins when children model their Catholic parents; mature in their Catholic community; come to understand their worth in God's eyes and live out their unique Baptismal call.

Marriage Preparation is a lifelong journey (just ask any married couple).

If you are engaged and plan to get married in the Diocese of Evansville, then first we want to say Congrats!  Marriage is a wonderful Catholic calling.  Second, we want to offer you the below marriage/wedding preparation steps for the Big Day!

STEP 1:  Speak with your parish/priest regarding paperwork you will need for the parish and about marriage preparation programs available at your parish.  With your Pastor's guidance, then move to the appropriate STEPS 2-5.

STEP 2:  Complete and review the FOCCUS inventory.  This is a questionnaire that you and your fiance complete separately and then come together to discuss with your pastor.

STEP 3:  Attend either an UNVEILED Marriage Prep retreat OR a Sponsor Couple program through your parish.  (NOTE:  Not all parishes have Sponsor Couple programs, so you will want to discuss options with your parish).
  • UNVEILED RETREAT:
    • IN-PERSON RETREATS AT SARTO RETREAT CENTER:  There are 3 UNVEILED retreats held at SARTO each year (FEB, MAY, SEPT).  You can register through the UNVEILED REGISTRATION FORM below.
    • ONLINE UNVEILED RETREAT:  An online option for the Unveiled Retreat is available by clicking the Unveiled icon below (the SARTO registration form).
      • This will take you to the Unveiled registration page.  Once there, click on the Course Catalog link in the upper left corner.  From there, you will decide whether you and your fiance are going to take the program together or separately.  Once you have chosen, you will be guided to a LOGIN and new users will click REGISTER HERE.  Cost is $190.00 per couple.
  • PARISH SPONSOR COUPLE PROGRAM:
    • If your parish has a Sponsor Couple program, you can attend this instead of the Unveiled retreat.

STEP 4:  Attend a FREE, 45-minute session about Natural Family Planning.  This course is called the Truth about NFP and is scheduled throughout the Diocese or you can schedule a virtual meeting.

OR
Contact Kelli at 812-421-2030 or by email at FertilityCareEvansville@gmail.com to register.

If possible, we recommend attending an in-person retreat to benefit from the conversation with the facilitators and other engaged couples.  However, we know that this can sometimes be difficult.
